Michael Ryan, Managing Director of Beavis & Bartels, was awarded the Zip Water Industry Leadership Award at the 2021 Plumbing and Gas Industry Awards, held on Friday 12 November at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This prestigious award recognises a person who has had a significant impact on the plumbing and gas industry through training, mentoring, development, and leadership

Michael began his career at Beavis & Bartels as an apprentice in 1997. His impressive forward-thinking mindset and passion for the hydraulics industry were recognised early on in his apprenticeship, and it wasn’t long before he worked his way up the ranks to become Beavis & Bartels’ Director, going on to purchase the Beavis & Bartels Group name.

Currently the Managing Director, Michael has taken his passion, leadership skills, and commitment to giving back to the industry and turned Beavis & Bartels into an equal opportunity employer with a strong reputation for training, professional development, mentoring opportunities, and an enviable workplace culture.

Leading a team that has delivered some of Queensland’s landmark developments across a diverse range of sectors and industries, Michael has taken his involvement in the industry even further with his role on several industry sub-committees, an active involvement in the MPAQ Major Contractor’s Group, and his role as a member of the MPAQ Council.

Hosted by Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland (MPAQ) in partnership with Event Partner Reliance Worldwide Corporate (RWC), the Plumbing and Gas Industry Awards aim to highlight the hard work and dedication invested into the industry by apprentices, plumbers, gasfitters, hydraulic consultants and other industry individuals.

This year, the sold-out event recognised individuals and companies in 16 award categories, and hosted VIPs including the Hon. Mick de Brenni MP, Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen and Minister for Public Works and Procurement of Queensland, the Hon. Di Farmer, Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development, the Hon. Scott Stewart, Minister for Resources, Tim Mander, Shadow Minister for Housing and Public Works and Shadow Minister for Sports and Racing, and Gary O’Halloran, State Secretary of the Plumbing and Pipe Trades Union Queensland.
