Plumbing or Gas Trainer of the Year
New award category in 2025!
Proudly supported by Tradelink, this award recognises an outstanding trainer in the plumbing and gas industry who has demonstrated excellence in education and training, contributing to the professional growth of apprentices and tradespeople. The award acknowledges trainers delivering pre-trade and post-trade qualification training, including those assisting qualified tradespeople in obtaining additional certifications.
Eligibility
The below requirements must be met to be eligible for this award category:
- Candidates must be actively engaged in training within the plumbing and/or gas industry in Queensland, Australia.
- Candidates must be employed by or contracted to a registered training organisation (RTO) or industry training provider.
- Candidates must have a minimum of two years' experience in delivering training within the industry.
- Candidates can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else.

Nominees will be evaluated based on:
- Excellence in training delivery – Demonstrated ability to engage and educate students using effective training methods.
- Industry knowledge and technical expertise – Strong understanding of plumbing and gas trade requirements, regulations, and best practices.
- Commitment to student success – Support for apprentices and tradespeople in achieving qualifications and career development.
- Innovation in training – Implementation of new techniques, tools, or approaches to enhance learning outcomes.
- Adapting to industry advancements – Integration of new technologies, products, and regulatory changes into training programs.
- Mentorship and leadership – Providing guidance, motivation, and career advice to students and apprentices.
- Contributions to workforce development – Efforts to improve industry skills shortages and increase participation in plumbing and gas training.
- Completion of the nomination questionnaire, providing insights into the candidate’s teaching style, industry contributions, and student impact.
- Submission of a minimum of 10 high-resolution photos showcasing training sessions, practical demonstrations, or student engagement.
- Optional: Video footage discussing training and industry involvement, or showcasing training sessions, practical demonstrations, or student engagement.
- Evidence of training excellence and industry involvement, such as course materials, student feedback, testimonials, or program success stories.
- At least one reference from an apprentice, student, or industry professional supporting the nomination.
Failure to submit any required information by the stated deadlines may result in disqualification.
Following the completion of the judging, all finalists for this award will be notified and invited to attend the 2025 Plumbing & Gas Industry Awards. All award finalists can purchase tickets at the finalist rate (limit 10 per finalist) – equal to the early bird member discounted price.
Finalists may also be asked to participate in media opportunities but will be contacted first by MPAQ to assess interest.

- A trophy, gift and certificate.
- Public recognition at the 2025 Awards Presentation Dinner and a feature in the Summer 2025 edition of the Master Plumber Magazine.
