Queensland Hydraulic Consultancy Design of the Year

This award, proudly supported by AHSCA Qld, recognises an outstanding hydraulic design completed by a hydraulic consultancy firm. The project may be completed, in progress, or scheduled to begin, provided the design meets the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility

The below requirements must be met to be eligible for this award category:

  • The design must be stamped "for construction" after August 2024 (for staged projects, after August 2022).
  • The project can be for any class of building.
  • Candidates must hold a QBCC licence in the relevant field.
  • Candidates must be based in and undertake work in Queensland, Australia.
  • Candidates must be an AHSCA Queensland Chapter consultant member.
  • All work must be available for judging through photos and video evidence, as site inspections will not be conducted.
  • Candidates can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else.
  • Submissions can be joint between a plumbing contractor, and hydraulic consultant.

Nominees will be evaluated based on:

  • Compliance and Regulations – Demonstrated adherence to the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards, including the use of alternate solutions where applicable.
  • Quality of Design and Documentation – Evidence of clear and accurate documentation, comprehensive detailing, and structured presentation of design.
  • Buildability – Practicality of design implementation, ensuring the design is constructible and integrates seamlessly into real-world applications.
  • Sustainability and Environmental Considerations – Use of environmentally sustainable products, procedures, and methodologies within the design.
  • Innovation – Implementation of new technologies, methodologies, or creative problem-solving approaches in the design process.
  • Industry Collaboration – Level of input and coordination with external designers, consultants, and affiliates to enhance project outcomes.
  • A detailed project description must be provided, accompanied by design documentation (PDF drawings submitted must be bound or in zip files). Large files can be sent to events@mpaq.com.au by file transfer if required.
  • Drawings should be design documentation rather than “As Constructed” documentation. However, “As Constructed” documentation may be included to verify buildability.
  • Local Authority approvals may be included as applicable.
  • Clearly identify which areas of the project are being assessed within the submission (e.g., “the laboratory within this building located on drawing H05”).
  • A minimum of ten high-resolution photos of the work on the project, along with any necessary supporting documentation, must be submitted for judging.
  • A limit of one nomination per design consultancy.
  • Projects must not have been submitted for an AHSCA/MPAQ award in another state or territory.
  • Failure to submit any required information by the stated deadlines may result in disqualification.

Following the completion of the judging, all finalists for this award will be notified and invited to attend the 2025 Plumbing & Gas Industry Awards. All award finalists can purchase tickets at the finalist rate (limit 10 per finalist) – equal to the early bird member discounted price.

Finalists may also be asked to participate in media opportunities but will be contacted first by MPAQ to assess interest.

  • Public recognition at the 2025 Awards Presentation Dinner and a feature in the Summer 2025 edition of the Master Plumber Magazine.
