Queensland Apprentice of the Year
This award, proudly supported by Reece, recognises the best second, third, or fourth-year apprentice in Queensland who demonstrates outstanding knowledge, skill, and dedication in plumbing, drainage, or gas work.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this award, the nominee must meet the following requirements:
- Must be indentured as a second, third, or fourth-year apprentice in Queensland between April 2025 – April 2026.
- Must have been selected as the winner of the 2025 Second Year, Third Year, or Fourth Year Apprentice of the Year awards.
- All work must be available to judge through photos and video evidence.
Note: Nomination is not required for this award. All winners from the Second Year, Third Year, or Fourth Year Apprentice of the Year awards will automatically be considered for this additional category if they meet the above requirements. Finalists for this award will be announced on the night of the awards presentations.

The finalists for this award will be judged on the following criteria:
- On-the-Job Performance – Demonstrated excellence in technical skills, work ethic, and professionalism.
- Commitment to the Plumbing & Gas Trade – Strong dedication to the industry, with a commitment to continual learning and improvement.
- Technical Knowledge – Solid understanding of plumbing and gas principles, codes, and regulations.
- Role Model Qualities – Demonstrates leadership and sets a positive example for peers in the apprenticeship program.
- Personal, Academic & Industry Achievements – A track record of success both academically and on the job, with involvement in industry activities.
- Initiative, Leadership & Creativity – Displays problem-solving abilities, leadership, and creative thinking in tackling challenges.
- Community & Personal Contributions – Demonstrates involvement in the community or extracurricular activities that contribute to personal development.
- Future Goals & Aspirations – Clear career goals and vision for future contributions to the plumbing and gas industry.
Finalists will be automatically considered based on their previous category win (Second Year, Third Year, or Fourth Year Apprentice of the Year). There are no additional submission requirements beyond those for the individual year awards.
If you are the winner of this award category, you will receive:
- A trophy and certificate.
- A $500 bursary to be used for future training, skills development, or tools to assist in your apprenticeship. This amount must be utilised by 31 December 2027.
- Public recognition at the 2026 Awards Presentation Dinner and a feature in the Summer 2026 edition of the Master Plumber Magazine.
Runner Ups of this award category will also be acknowledged at the awards dinner and provided with a certificate and gift.
